About gabe
When I was a child, if you were to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said something like “Firefighter!” or “Superhero!” Sadly I would find out I was too shy and not nearly brave enough to fight fires and I lacked the telekinetic abilities to fit the superhero persona I wanted to embody; so, they were scrapped.
If you asked me in middle school, I would have probably said “Cartoonist!!” After all, my need to draw the many images in my head had taken precedent over my school work at that point; might as well put it to good use.
Ask me in High School, “Writer” might have been whispered, but lacking the true conviction that writers must have in order to accomplish anything substantial. But, in the middle of my high school career, my parents made a very expensive mistake by taking me to my first Broadway show, and my answer changed after that weekend; “I want to Sing and Act on a Broadway stage.”
Years have passed. I still love to draw cartoons. I still like to write in my personal time. I even developed a deep love for American Sign Language, and pairing it with music. However, the more things change, as things often do… my answer of what I want to be when I grow up has not faltered in the slightest.
